The Wired

I've just recently brought a new computer. It retails at $1200 but I managed to get it for cost price at $650 (divide by 2 for ?).



It has a a 60x60 matrix display, 1x USB interface, no CD/DVD drives, gas switching mode and electronic compass. It is in fact a dive computer, something which I trust my life with, and so fortunately it doesn't run Microsoft. <!--emo&:P--><img src='http://i2.ifrm.com/html/emoticons/tongue.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tongue.gif' /><!--endemo-->



Anyhoo I have just received the download cable and am currently downloading to dive log software that goes with it. Once I have a few screenshots I'll post them just to let you know what I get up to when I work.

Well I installed the software and then the drivers. As soon as I connected my computer I get a BSOD. I've tried it twice and will not do it again. There is a possibility that my drivers are out of date because of how long the package has been in the store so will get the most recent offering and try that one, once. If it doesn't work out of the box it is something I will get a refund on and certainly would advise students not to get in the future. Perhaps If I complain enough I may even get a sweetener from the relevant company.

No bodies or treasure yet. The green bars represent the amount of nitrogen in my 9 tissue compartments. As soon as any one reaches 101% I need to do a decompression stop.

I've just read a book about a diver who after only 330 dives achieved a depth of 270m. Awesome!



He died in the process because of a couple of factors but overall he accomplished an awful lot in such a short diving career.



I've also just started another book about a pair of divers who die underwater and I find the tales strangely inspiring. I have set myself a goal of reaching 100m at some point in my life but have a couple of areas I need to work on.





In other news I have booked a flight to Cairns for this Thursday and now need to blitz some companies with my CV. At least it will still be warm up there.
