goes my doorbell.

Win: I have an old fashioned solenoid type powered by a 12v AC transformer, meaning I don't need any magic to make the bell and light work.

Fail: It also means it won't work in a power cut. I have a lot of those.

Extra Fail: It looks like the bulb has blown so it's no longer illuminated. Considering the efforts I went to, this annoys me.

So anyway. In addition to pondering people's favourite sound, I'm also taking bets on how long:

1. before it stops working.

2. before I find a replacement bulb

First prize is a pie.

It will doggedly keep working forever in the face of adversity and I predict that you will never find a replacement bulb, mostly because the doorbell works without one, so it'd be "nice to have" rather than essential. Given how long you put up with no hot tap in the kitchen, I predict your irritation at the blown bulb will wear off before your desire to replace it kicks in.

I don't like door bells. I prefer a good knocker!!!

I voted for the Ding Dong option, but it really needs to be Leslie Philips reading out the phrase.

lol, poll edited accordingly. Probably too late mind...

You know, I never considered a knocker. I could even get a nice pair, one for the back and one for the front.

No reason not to have a nicely illuminated pair of knockers.
