Lan Party

Hi people.

It's been muted that we hold a Lan Party ch?z noz, so I'm after suggestions of games which fit the following:

1. Free Multiplayer

2. Work on my aging 32MB GeForce 2 graphics card on my Windows 2K Athlon 1800

So far I've got Quake 3 arena and Descent 2 - both have multi-player demo versions which work fine, although I haven't played Descent for ages... *searches for disks*

Also - I want to invite people (You Lot) to play over the Interweb. I'm sure I can get it working, but do you know if running a quake server on a 256Kb/s ADSL line is actually going to work?

It won't be for a while - I got holidays and fings, but it'll be one Saturday Night late September I hope.

I'll PM people the IP address nearer the date. If you can make it to Northampton with a laptop then all the better! i'd be up for that. would a hanichi netowkr work ok?

Hamachi this weird sort of online lan thingy. set up an ip and its connect to other pc's with the same Hamachi adress. fully passwords too. fairly handy.

you'll have to direct me/us to the demos tho. but that nexuiz thing looks cool.

We have Wolfenstein, and I have the FEAR multiplayer that paulpowers linked to (i think it was him) But FEAR isnt likely to work on JJ's pc XD...it might though...dunno

I'm thinking of writing or finding an on-line Java version of Chinese Chequers - that's good for 6 people and will run on anything with CGA or better graphics and a 300baud modem <img src='http://i2.ifrm.com/html/emoticons/laugh.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='laugh.gif' />

Dag Nab it! I waited all night for that download and it failed...
