I need sleep!

This might be why:

MONDAY: Up at 7AM, in work by 7:45. Worked till 7.30PM. Went to bed at 1:30AM.

TUESAY: Up at 7AM, in work by 7:45. Worked till 6:30PM. Went to bed at 1:30AM.

WEDNESDAY: Up at 6:30AM, in work by 7:30. Worked till 7PM. Went to bed at 2:00AM.

THURSDAY: Up at 7:30AM, in work by 8:15. Worked till 6:30PM. Went to bed at 11:45PM.

FRIDAY: Up at 6:00AM, in work by 6:45. Worked till 5:30PM. Drove to Exeter(!), had some drinks with friends, went to bed at 2:45AM.

SATURDAY: Up at 7AM, had friends wedding all day until 1AM, drove home from Exeter, arrived home at 3:45AM. Spent half hour figuring out what was wrong with my internet connection (nothing, it seems like general flakiness from the ISP <img src='http://i2.ifrm.com/html/emoticons/dry.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='dry.gif' /> ), caught up on forum stuff & emails.

It's now 4:30AM, I've been constantly on the go for 21 1/2 hours, and I feel wide awake. I want to go to sleep, but I know it's not going to happen, despite feeling physically exhausted.

WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH ME?

You may feel physically exhausted but have you actually done any exercise in all of that time?

I had a boozy day down the pub yesterday. Had a nap from 7-8:30 and when I woke up couldn't be bothered to go out again just for sake of drinking so went to bed properly. I've been awake since 5 and got up at 6 so just missed you.

Did you ever get to sleep Red?

I had a fairly early night last night. KW left about 2am I think, so I DDR'd for a bit, posted a couple of things and then went to bed by 3am. I woke up about 7am which I've been doing a lot this week. Very annoying since I've been on holiday... but it didn't stop me laying in bed until lunch time <img src='http://i2.ifrm.com/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' />

Ah - reading. The classic!

I did have a copy of "Begin MS Access" which would probably have done the trick, but I've recycled it now. It was in about 3 volumes, but massively out of date. Back when Office 2.0 ran on Windows 3.1 and they still gave you manuals and floppy disks!

I can only assume it's the ISP (BT) doing speed tests, as my connection has been timing out at regular intervals all day, and my connection speed keeps changing - from 4megs (ish) this afternoon, down to 2.6 megs now. Not bad for an 8 meg connection! <img src='http://i2.ifrm.com/html/emoticons/dry.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='dry.gif' />

Oh, and my 'D' key is now broken - it sort of works, but I keep hooking it off and losing it under the esk. Looks like I need a new keyboard. <img src='http://i2.ifrm.com/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif' />

I just noticed my F12 key top is missing. I think I saw it somewhere a couple of months ago and figured it was off an old peace of junk so I've probably chucked it out!

Indeed, my keyboard is at an age where all the commonly-used keys are starting to get worn and shiney. F12 still looks unused! <img src='http://i2.ifrm.com/html/emoticons/laugh.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='laugh.gif' />

Luckily, I get my post-promotion (and payrise) wages a week on Tuesday, so I'll be able to spash out on a decent kb. I do have an emergeny spare, but I can't be bothered to find it (it's horrible anyway - an old comaq keyboard from the early 90s). Until I can get a new keyboard, I'll just have to avoid typing stuff that uses the letter 'd'.

In the meantime, here are a few Ds - feel free to use them in place of any I miss out!

Now I'm seriously pissed off.

Iwas just on an ebay auction for a new set of dash clocks for my TR7 - they normally go for anything up to ?50 - which was sitting at 99p. Went to bid with about 2 minutes left, and guess what happened?

Are you sharing the wireless? If so, do the others get the same timeouts? Also - check the router logs if it's got any. Mine has a firewall which deliberately locks me out sometimes when it thinks I'm under attack. Usually, it's not an attack at all - it's just a really good bittorrent!!

Back on the subject of sleep... I've just had a few hours kip. I'm awake again now, so that's probably screwed up tonights sleep. Oh well...

I think I may have sorted it now!

I am sharing this connection, and I noticed on the router page:

Uptime: 0days, 8hr 31mins

Data recieved: 1.41GB <img src='http://i2.ifrm.com/html/emoticons/ohmy.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='ohmy.gif' />

He's torrenting like crazy in there, and all at max connections. The little scrap of bandwidth left over for me just isn't up to the job.

I've slowed down his connections now. Unfortunately there's no way of throttling BT connections on the router, so I'll just have to trust he doesn't ramp them up again....
