Well, last night, I finally managed to fill a gaping hole in my cultural resume, and sat and watched the film (for the first time ever! )

What a wonderfully fluffy kittened-up film it is!

The trouble is, I made the mistake of watching it between 1 and 3AM (I couldn't watch it any earlier than that, I had to sit and wait for the thing to downlo... er, get delivered) - probably not the best time for profound thinking. So the ending left me totally flummoxed.

I might have to sit and watch it again - or is it supposed to be confusing like that?

Watch 2010: The year we make contact. It makes a lot more sense of the first film, especially while it is fresh in the memory.

To be honest I thought it was too bleedin' long, but a total classic. Yes it's supposed to be confusing

I'm not sure I've seen 2010 yet; or more likely I watched it at 3am and forgot about it!

Useless fact:

In the 2001 novel ACC chose Saturn as the planet in question. However, Stanley Kubrick didn't have the SFX to make the rings look good so he chose Jupiter instead. When it came to writing the 2010 sequel ACC then chose Jupiter.

I saw 2010 on Friday night.
