Hi guys.

I've been thinking about the NSFKW forum, and there are some issues which I think need to be discussed between the members. I'm gonna say a few things, and I'd appreciate your comments. A poll may be added at a later date when I've worked out what the question is!

1. I made this part of the forum invisible to the general public for material not safe for general consumption. As the warning says, I chose 16 as the advised cut-off age since that's the age in this country at which you can legally have sex, and sex is a large part of what this forum is for. Well, not actually doing it - you know what I mean!

2. This is a silly forum. The whole website is dedicated to silliness. Therefore, I imagined this NSFKW part would be predominantly Bevis and Butt-head style, and a lot of the threads are quite silly.

3. I don't really like hard core porn or close-up pictures of genitalia. Not unless they're silly genitalia. There are plenty of other forums for such things, and we have a thread full of links to them.

4. We do have members under 16. I've not banned them from the NSFKW, but I have explicitly said they shouldn't really come here. However, I've left it up to them if they feel it's OK or not.

5. I don't want to shun or nanny our younger members, but at the same time there are a lot of 30+ year olds here who may not feel comfortable with some of the threads knowing that 14 year olds might be reading them.

So what do you think?

Should I make the rules stricter?

What should the rules be?

What do you actually want to post and read about in the NSFKW forum?

I just like boobies and silliness, so beyond that I'm not really sure!

It is a very difficult one, I must confess. As I see it, there are three sorts of thread in here.

The blatant porn

The novelty porn

The meta threads

The novelty porn definitely fulfills the sillyness idea quite nicely, and can certainly provide a smile on an otherwise damp day.

I personally find the meta threads very interesting, and I like the fact that it is a private place to discuss things that you couldn't otherwise stick on DUMP for example (although I did manage to come close with that BDSM thread sparked by Max Mosley scandal).

The blatant porn is the only area that would be difficult to justify, and also the one that is most likely to cause problems, if any were to arise. Having said that, there aren't too many threads that really fall into that category.

- I like that there is a place for "silly" porn because in my view people take sex/porn entirely too seriously and I like being able to poke fun at it a bit.

- I also that (within reason) I can express an opinion on, and have a chat about things that are of an adult nature, it's refreshing to have somewhere to do that.

- I also like Boobies

- I recognise that it's not the owner/mods job to police the internet and that if people choose to lie about their age and view inappropriate content then to a large extent it's up to them.

With all that in mind and without being pretentious or prissy, I'm not comfortable talking about things like fetish parties and BDSM knowing damned well that there are minors reading the board. If everyone else thinks it's fine then I'm happy to just never post in here on subjects that I'm not happy with.

I do have a couple of questions though:

1. Does anyone know what the rules (legal, official) are surrounding "age inappropriate" content online and the lengths that people should reasonably go to to ensure they're not broken?

2. How difficult would it be to request date of birth when people join and then add them to a group which can't view this area of the forum? If people don't know it's there until they are members then they won't know that they're missing anything.

I would hate for JJ to get into trouble for allowing minors to view content that isn't appropriate for them, but also I'm very aware of what I would and wouldn't want my kids or my nephews reading and viewing before they were 16. I realise that you can't reasonably keep them completely unaware until the magical age of 16, but I also think that anything that can be reasonably done, should be, especially since it's a point of law.

I have absolutely no idea what the law says, but I expect it depends on the nature of the content. Ironically, I expect the law has far more to say about pictures than it does about any written comments.

I don't think there's any age limit on boobies, but hard-core porn is 18 rated in this country. So when posting, think Page 3 glamour rather than Gynaecology 101...

I may just delete the "honest porn" thread to be on the safe side, since I suspect some of what's there may be considered 18. So, book mark any good bits you can find because tomorrow may be too late

As to the sign-up, it's a completely manual system involving people emailing me. I don't think there's any mechanism in the automatic mechanism for checking peoples age, but it's disabled anyway.

I've created a new group called "Spore" and a new permissions mask called "Juvenile". So far, it's just Bally and he's going to wonder where this forum just vanished to!

Any new members under 16 will go into this group. I'll simply ask their age when they sign up.

Do we think I should up the age limit to 18? If I do, then a couple of other users will be demoted to "Juvenile Spores" but it will mean fewer restrictions on what can be posted here.

As a minor side note, nothing written is illegal, I guess because it never requires anyone to do anything illegal.

Part of me says I would rather have an all inclusive community and a little less pron than have that bit of pron and ostrasize some members. Besides, the internet is full of pron anyways!

I have to say, I like the idea of this place existing, in the sense of 'silly porn', and NSFKW-type discussion threads. I'd hate to see this disappear!

My suggestions:

1. More 'silly' and less 'porn' - if you just want plain old pr0n, it's not exactly hard to find elsewhere! Threads on here should be links to the lighter, soft-core side of porn etc - think 'lads mag', but funnier. A degree of self-moderation is required here, although let's face it, this place isn't exactly short of mods if it comes to that!

2. The new, underage group, with no access to this thread, is the way to go - it is a shame to start segregating people, but it's the safe thing to do. Apart from the legal issues, I'm sure none of us want any flak from irate parents! If the board is kept to softcore stuff, then I don't see a need to raise the age limit - 16 should be fine.

3. A little bit of pruning of the existing threads may be a good idea, just to keep the nasty stuff to a minimum.

4. I'm sure there was a 4, but I've forgotten!

The only issue that I can see is classification - tubgirl, goatse etc are definately silly fodder, but then they're also pretty hardcore - where do you draw the line?

I agree that goatse is pretty hardcore. It's also pretty disturbing, and to be honest I could have lived without seeing it!

I think for anything questionable, then Links Only and no image posting. and a suitable warning... although that would probably just tempt people to click on it more

The irony of course, is that the younger members here are probably the ones who've seen more of this stuff

I have a rule on my forusm that anything NSFW should be made as a link, and warning signs saying 'THIS IS NSFW/KIDS'

We also have a disclaimer in the EULA, that says if you are under 18, and see any nudity you are breaking the law by clicking any links.

Could we not have it in the EULA that if you are under 18 and you go in the nsfkw forum then it is you that is breaking the law

also putting a title on the NSFKW that it is for 18+ only

I say shift the blame and no more hardcore just good safe boobies and a little naughty fluff

Shooping images of katie holmes was a mental benefit to me. Perhaps I shouldn't have posted them, but they helped none the less.

I'm curious as to how they helped? Seriously. I never had a high opinion of her, but as pretty soup star bubble heads go she was OK. I even had her picture on my wall about ten years ago - and nothing like the ones you did

OK serious point...

I'm thinking about killing this forum.

I love boobies, in fact nekid ladies from any angle... but I think it may be putting off some people, and giving other people the wrong idea.

We had about 5 new members, but none of them have come back

They couldn't have seen this part before they joined... and perhaps it scared them..?

I could just start a completely separate ADULT forum for *laughing at silly porn*

What do you think?

I say keep it.

I like boobies, and I really enjoyed reading back through the catalogue of silly porn when I joined, in fact, I'm still enjoying it now

If new members are 'sensitive' enough to be offended by what they find here, then are they really the type of newbies we want?
