Dewberry

PANTONE? 18-3533TC

"The Dewberries are a group of species closely related to blackberries. They are small brambles with berries reminiscent of the raspberry, but are usually purple to black instead of red!"

Appropriately after the weekend:

Wineberry

PANTONE? 19-2814TC

"The Wineberry tree, called makomako in Maori, is common throughout New Zealand. Flowers on the tree are of a red-white colour. The tree produces black berries between 6-9mm (0.2-0.4 in)."

Somehow, I've managed to forget the state fruit of Idaho for all these months. <!--emo&:o--><img src='http://i2.ifrm.com/html/emoticons/ohmy.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='ohmy.gif' /><!--endemo-->

So I'd better make amends ASAP:

Righty then, how about a lovely Hollyberry

PANTONE? 17-1633TC

"The fruits are small drupes, usually with four to six pits, and range in color from red to purple-black."

Hmm, I'm not sure if a bean is a fruit, but I don't have time to check, so:

Jojoba

PANTONE? 14-0935TC

"The fruit is an acorn-shaped ovoid, three-angled capsule 1?2 cm long,

partly enclosed at the base by the sepals."

Extra points if you know what a Sepal is (without googling it) <!--emo&--><img src='http://i2.ifrm.com/html/emoticons/laugh.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='laugh.gif' /><!--endemo-->

I don't think runner beans and like are, but coffee beans are definitely fruit:

Suppose I'd better try and think of another one now! Don't hold your breath. <!--emo&--><img src='http://i2.ifrm.com/html/emoticons/laugh.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='laugh.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Aww, Sepals are the green case-y looking bits that open to allow the flower petals to open, they're usually green no matter what colour the petals are:

Whoo-Hoo <!--emo&:aha:--><img src='http://i2.ifrm.com/4013/140/emo/aha.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='aha.gif' /><!--endemo-->

FYI - I still had the following to play:

Chestnut PANTONE? 19-1118TC

"The fruit is contained in a spiny (very sharp) cupule 2 to 3 inches or 5 to 11 centimetres diameter, also called "bur". The burrs are often paired or clustered on the branch and contain one to seven fruits according to the different species, varieties and cultivars. At around the time when the fruits reach maturity, the burrs turn yellow-brown and split open in 2 or 4 sections. They can remain on the tree longer than they hold the fruit, but more often achieve complete opening and release the fruits only after having fallen on the ground and partly due to soil humidity."

Dogwood PANTONE? 13-1404TC

"Most species have opposite leaves and a few have alternate. The fruit of all species is a drupe with one or two seeds. Flowers have four parts."

Raisin PANTONE? 19-1606TC

"Raisins are dried grapes"

Jojoba PANTONE? 14-0935TC

"The fruit is an acorn-shaped ovoid, three-angled capsule 1?2 cm long, partly enclosed at the base by the sepals."

Muskmelon PANTONE? 15-1242TC

"is a species of fruit that has been developed into many cultivated varieties. These include smooth skinned varietes, and different netted cultivars known as cantaloupes"

Teaberry PANTONE? 18-1756TC

"The fruit is an edible bright red berry 6?9 mm diameter".

Barberry PANTONE? 18-1760TC

"The fruit is a small berry 5-15 mm long, ripening red or dark blue, often with a pink or violet waxy surface bloom; they may be either long and narrow (like a bar, hence 'barberry') or in other species, spherical."

Sassafras PANTONE? 19-1624TC

"The fruit are blue-black, egg-shaped, 1 cm long, produced on long, red-stalked cups, and mature in late summer"

Jacaranda PANTONE? 17-3930TC

"The fruit is an oblong to oval flattened capsule containing numerous slender seeds. "

Bayberry PANTONE? 18-5315TC

"The fruit is a small drupe, usually with a wax coating."
