*note to diggers of pig pits*

In a conversation this weekend, it was suggested that a giant roasting bag might be useful. Some research showed that pig-size isn't a problem, but they're only rated at 220C so it would still need wrapping in a few wet sacks.

I'm in a mixed mood about it. The one truly unique thing was the smoked clay and sack flavour which would be lacking if cooked in a hermetically sealed wrapping. On the other hand, it's practically designed for the job and should eliminate wastage.

Definitely worth bearing in mind

I realise I'm skipping Yule and Xmas, but are either of you (preferably both of you) free for NYE?

I'm hoping to run a murder mystery dinner evening at Chez Red and It'd be better if you were both able to come and take part. Let me know as soon as you can because I'll need to buy the game for the number of people attending. We already have a Jim and Charlie I think (hopefully they're confirming today) and it'd be great to do with you.

Fingers crossed!!

I'm afraid I'm not sure about what I'm up to on new year yet (or most of Christmas for that matter). When do you need to know by?

Right, technically we're both free for new years... and so is New Dog.

Can he come too? He'd absolutely love to explore all the new smells and he's not much trouble really - you've both met him a few times I think? He'll mostly ignore the kitties if they ignore him, but there's a chance he may chase them up a tree or something if they decide to look scared and run away.

Kitty feeding time might be a trial - as might the kibble dispenser. He pretty much thinks any food at floor level is rightfully his; although he's fine if it's on a table. Would the cats find the kibble if you put it up by their window maybe? We can just keep him distracted outside when they have their meals - he'll chase sticks for hours.

Of course if there's a dead body hidden somewhere, them the mystery might not last very long - he has a most excellent sense of smell and will probably win the game in 30 seconds

If you don't think it's a good idea, then I'm afraid we're probably dog-sitting in front of Holland's Hootenanny like most years. Can't leave him on his own; he's only new and he's very human-dependant because he's never been alone.

Note about Yule - can we make a punch or something to use up the home-made alcohols? It won't keep until next year because it's not that potent. Also; what foods are you planning? What can I bring for the table? I was thinking of bringing stripy-burgers but I'm not sure it will fit the theme

I came here is post pretty much that ^

If we do come, then I'll also need to take him out into the outside for a couple of walks (one annoyingly early on the morning) - I assume that your recent visitation by a rabble of random rabblers means that there are some public footpaths around you somewhere?

Beltane

Hey all. May 1st is almost upon us and since it' the festival of FIRE I'm proposing a moot at Chez Red involving our new BBQ, some fire jumping, lots of beer and mead, some interesting meat and the usual socialising. Since May 1st is a Tuesday, I propose we gather on the 28th April to welcome the Summer (with no loss of an hour) Are you free?

I'm really not sure if I can make this weekend, since I'll only just be back from France and I don't know what I'm going to have to deal with. Would the following weekend be OK?

Venturing out the members area for the first time in awhile...

I think the only weekend I can't do is the 12-13th May, otherwise I'm good.

Well, it's looking like we'll be between Beltane and Litha by the time we can get together

We've got my 'rents here over the Bank Holiday weekend so we can't do the May 5th Weekend, KW isn't free the weekend after so I'm going to check the calendar at home and propose another date.

Well, looks like we're free just about every weekend in May apart from the Bank Holiday one. From a "having the money to entertain" point of view, as well as a "celebrate Red's becomming a year older than me" point of view, I'd like to propose the last weekend in May, 26th/27th for a vist. Hopefully we'll have decent enough weather that we can BBQ, have a fire and lots of beer/wine etc (hope, hope) but if not we can stay indoors and have food, fire and lots of beer/wine etc.

Thoughts?

Unfortunately the only date in May I can't do is the 26th! I have the usual suspects arriving on the Friday for an intensive Eurovision weekend. There will be cremated mammal if the weather is worthy.

Just realised I didn't actually say - you are all invited!

Sleeping over may be something of a squeeze though.
