yo,

right my mate Duke has a question on hitchhikers guide to the galaxy the original BBC series. in the last ep. when arther and the other bloke are on earth with all the people who crashed in the space ship (it was full of hair dressers and phone clearners) and primevil man. they set out scrabble bits to find out what the question was for the unlitate answer.

dukes question is this: WHAT was the question to the answer of life the univers and everything IN THE ORIGINAL bbc series!.

If 42 isn't the answer, and no-one else can help, maybe you should hire, oh sorry. Then I'd suggest Mark's Site. Plenty of geeks there.

when you say the BBC series, do you mean radio or television? The BBC did both.

Although I can tell you that in the book, it was 'what do you get if you multiply 6 and 7'.

As the other bloke said, 54 is actually 42 in base 13.

douglas adams simple picked 42 out of the air really.

that and theres alot of strange and intresting things in the universe so why should the maths add up. i mean the universe itself is a complety pointless thing. why is it here when nothing could be here. the only use of the universe is to support a small amount of life and to gernraly be rather strange and intresting place.

which is nice.
