Blimey, summer celebration was summery!

Thank you for being most excellent hosts. The roast pig was perfect, and the vegetable selection of roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding and roast chicken were delicious <!--emo&:lol:--><img src='http://i2.ifrm.com/html/emoticons/laugh.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='laugh.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Surprise bonus old planes, cars, bikes and traction engine were a surprise bonus <!--emo&:o--><img src='http://i2.ifrm.com/html/emoticons/ohmy.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='ohmy.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Let us know if the pics came out <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://i2.ifrm.com/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Yes, thanks again to Mrs R, another fantastic meal! <!--emo&:good:--><img src='http://i2.ifrm.com/4013/140/emo/good.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='good.gif' /><!--endemo-->

That was a good weekend all round!

It was just a shame (for me, anyway) that my hay fever was playing up yesterday. I guess that's what I get for sitting around in a meadow in the middle of summer! I wouldn't have missed it at all though, a great time was had.

Good things:

Portal 2

Lovely dinner

FIRE! <!--emo&:Aaarghh:--><img src='http://i2.ifrm.com/4013/140/emo/pirate.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='pirate.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Large quantities of mead

Staying up to watch the sun almost sort of rise

Sleep

Lovely brekkie

Great weather

Kitteh exploring the outside world

Old planes and cars (and a traction engine)

A bit more booze

Bad things:

Hay fever

Sunburn (only on my knees, I don't know how anyone else fared?)

:EDIT:

Oh, and discovering that 3G can work in the house - at a faster speed than our ADSL. <!--emo&<_<--><img src='http://i2.ifrm.com/html/emoticons/dry.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='dry.gif' /><!--endemo--> (that's a good thing BTW!)

I have "developed" overnight, I now glow in the dark from the neck up, I have sunburnt t-shirt lines round my neck, up over my shoulders and the tops of my arms. <!--emo&:shame:--><img src='http://i2.ifrm.com/4013/140/emo/shame.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='shame.gif' /><!--endemo--> Jim managed to sunburn one side of each leg, both arms, the front and back of his neck and his face. He reckons it's all fine, doesn't even hurt and he's glad he's got a start on it now before festival season <!--emo&:huh:--><img src='http://i2.ifrm.com/html/emoticons/huh.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='huh.gif' /><!--endemo-->

I loved the weekend, although I may scale down the cooking (and by default the washing up) next time we have a house-full so I can drink more and work less <!--emo&:whip:--><img src='http://i2.ifrm.com/4013/140/emo/whip.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='whip.gif' /><!--endemo--> <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://i2.ifrm.com/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo--> but we'll see. I loved the fire, we need to sort out a way to have a fire every time!

Speaking of which, the smoky laundry should be washed by the time I get home and ready to hang out!! <!--emo&:aha:--><img src='http://i2.ifrm.com/4013/140/emo/aha.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='aha.gif' /><!--endemo-->

And left arm (although how much of the arm redness is due to the insect bites is a bit hard tell).

I was wondering how Jim was going to look today! I'm fine, just a bit brown. I think I may buy a nice white tea towel to wear next time though because the fluffy towel was a bit warm!

Advance Notice

Just to let you all know, there's a chance the paddock will be in some state of disrepair for my party on the 7th, we're not sure when Mr Landscaper is coming in yet. No big deal because there's enough room in the garden, but just wanted to let you know that there might not be fire in the paddock!

So I haven't asked - anything you fancy for your birthday? I can't find anywhere that does "Saab spares vouchers" <!--emo&:P--><img src='http://i2.ifrm.com/html/emoticons/tongue.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tongue.gif' /><!--endemo-->

<!--emo&:lol:--><img src='http://i2.ifrm.com/html/emoticons/laugh.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='laugh.gif' /><!--endemo--> The only thing I can think of is garden stuff. Perhaps an interesting plant? A tree of some kind? Something unusual in stonework? I'm asking everyone else for National Garden centre vouchers to spend on a proper water butt and some other bits.

Failing that beer, or if you can find any green Condor baccy, that'd go down well, I'm struggling to find a source near the house, I'm not trekking out to Morrisons for it and the Sainsbugs near work doesn't do it either. I'm smoking "Clan" at the moment because I can't find any Condor! <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://i2.ifrm.com/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif' /><!--endemo-->

<!--emo&:blink:--><img src='http://i2.ifrm.com/html/emoticons/blink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='blink.gif' /><!--endemo--> I'm sure I checked this before and it wasn't a problem, but apparently the weekend I'm going to the seaside is the same weekend as the Silverstone Classic. So no old cars for me.

Birthdee Party

Just need to check a couple of things with you guys.

1. Are you both coming for the Saturday night drink-fest and the Sunday Hungi and BBQ?

2. Can you organise bringing some interesting salad-y stuff?

3. JJ are you still having Mrs KW's Mum sort out the birthday cake?

Saturday night won't be anything special food-wise, pizza and garlic bread probably, I hope that's ok?

She's on holiday at the moment, comes back on Saturday but I'm off then...

I'll leave a message with KW to ask her! Next month is arriving quicker than I expected <!--emo&:unsure:--><img src='http://i2.ifrm.com/html/emoticons/unsure.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='unsure.gif' /><!--endemo-->

1. I think that's still the plan. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://i2.ifrm.com/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->

2. I'm not personally sure salady stuff can be all that interesting. <!--emo&:P--><img src='http://i2.ifrm.com/html/emoticons/tongue.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tongue.gif' /><!--endemo-->

I could get some olives or pate or something? <!--emo&:mmm:--><img src='http://i2.ifrm.com/4013/140/emo/mmm.png' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='mmm.png' /><!--endemo-->

3. There's no Mrs KW. <!--emo&:unsure:--><img src='http://i2.ifrm.com/html/emoticons/unsure.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='unsure.gif' /><!--endemo-->

There will be a "puddingy" type of cake though! <!--emo&:aha:--><img src='http://i2.ifrm.com/4013/140/emo/aha.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='aha.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Glad to hear things are going to plan, and frankly I agree on the salad-y stuff, but JJ manages to do some salad things that are at least edible and a better offering than the usual boring salads I throw together <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://i2.ifrm.com/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo-->

I'll pop to the local supermarket one night later in the week and see what's fresh. I should have apples from the garden, so there's waldorf salad at any rate. Might bring a couple of types of humus for dipping things in too. How many salad eaters will there be in total? I usually make far too much!

Shame about the rain, but it shouldn't be that heavy or persistent. We've had fire and meat in far worse than is forecast <!--emo&:P--><img src='http://i2.ifrm.com/html/emoticons/tongue.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tongue.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Yeah, I'm not particularly worried, the forecast is changing already to good weather until about 3pm so I'm not bothering to be concerned about it until the day before. Whatever happens everyone will have a good time, we're not the sort of crew to be put off by a bit of bad weather!!
