That was an excellent gathering, fire-jumping, mead, bird cooked over an open (ish) fire, beer and burgers. It was so nice for me to have other people to celebrate Beltane with, thank you everyone for taking part enthusiastically, and I hope your orange trees grow strong and healthy.

Looking forward to the next fire event now <!--emo&:lol:--><img src='http://i2.ifrm.com/html/emoticons/laugh.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='laugh.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Are we still intending to do the Silverstone Classic?

There's a time table now:

We're definitely planning to go, although we haven't made any arrangements yet.

Yay!

Just noticed this:

The 'Italian Historic Car Cup' will run races for the most outstanding historic racing cars at the very primehistoric events and are delighted to be part of the Silverstone Classic, bringing the cars back to the home of British motor sport where they competed in their heyday. To name the most iconic models, the following examples have already been registered: Ferrari 250 GT SWB, 250 GTO, 330 LM/B, 275 GTB, Dino 206 S and 246 S, Ferrari 312 P, 412 P, 512 S and M, 312 P/B and Daytona Group 4, Alfa Romeo TZ, TZ2, 33/2, 33/3 and 33TT3, Abarth SE 021 and SE 027, Simca-Abarth 2000, Maserati 250 S, T61 and 151. These outstanding cars will be campaigned by some of the most important collectors and racers in the world, making the Italian Historic Car Cup the most exclusive grid world-wide

Ooh!! Problem is going to be deciding which day to go. I expect it'll be busiest on Saturday, but that's also probably when the best stuff will be on. We'll have to have a good look at the timetable.

I'm not. In fact, I'm double booked already this weekend <!--emo&<_<--><img src='http://i2.ifrm.com/html/emoticons/dry.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='dry.gif' /><!--endemo-->

I just sent KW a PM on x404 because he's on there but not here or MSN. I could phone, but that would be... unnatural <!--emo&:blink:--><img src='http://i2.ifrm.com/html/emoticons/blink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='blink.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Assuming it's this : http://www.silverstoneclassic.com/race-details/sc/id/52

?43.20 is 5 weeks drinking money, and I'm still in shock from the bus fair the last time <!--emo&:lol:--><img src='http://i2.ifrm.com/html/emoticons/laugh.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='laugh.gif' /><!--endemo-->

This weekend? It's not until the end of July. <!--emo&:lol:--><img src='http://i2.ifrm.com/html/emoticons/laugh.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='laugh.gif' /><!--endemo-->

I'll be going unless it's really, really rainy... <!--emo&:fish:--><img src='http://i2.ifrm.com/4013/140/emo/laughing-fish.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='laughing-fish.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Argg! I got the month wrong! I thought this was a totally different event, and two fairly expensive race meetings in one year is not something I planned for...

Too many months beginning with J <!--emo&:shame:--><img src='http://i2.ifrm.com/4013/140/emo/shame.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='shame.gif' /><!--endemo-->

I am indeed planning to go on the Saturday as previously discussed. I'll even pay for the taxi if people can make it to my house. You're only 40 once, after all <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://i2.ifrm.com/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Right, we're looking at booking tickets this week for this.

We're thinking Saturday is the best day, anyone got any better ideas? Anyone else going to come? <!--emo&:unsure:--><img src='http://i2.ifrm.com/html/emoticons/unsure.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='unsure.gif' /><!--endemo-->

I've just spoken to KW and he says he usually just buys the tickets on the day. The danger is if the heavens open, it will be a very soggy and not very eventful event.

I also have no idea how much cheaper or not it is if you buy in advance compared to the day. ?43.20 in advance, but as far as I can see it's maybe only ?40 on the day...??

There's little danger of them selling out, so do people want to pre-book or just go if the weather is nice?

It doesn't make any difference now, but if we'd bought online before the 30th June they would have only been ?34.00. We can buy them on the day I guess, at least then we'd save the booking fee.

Not too bothered about the weather tbh, we'd probably go anyway as we'd planned to already, but it's up to everyone. We both have rain coats and aren't nesh!! <!--emo&:lol:--><img src='http://i2.ifrm.com/html/emoticons/laugh.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='laugh.gif' /><!--endemo-->

We'll need to start early, is everyone ok with setting an alarm and getting out of bed early? First race is at 9:00 and it's the Golden Oldies "mini" race which I'd quite like to see.......

What do you think??

It might be a case of being a bit adaptable here, depending on the forecast. If the Saturday looks miserable but the Sunday is better, we can change around to the Sunday. Or something.

But I think if we can just rock up on the day and get tickets, then we may as well do that. After all, ?3.20 is a beer. Or, as this is Silverstone, half a beer! <!--emo&:lol:--><img src='http://i2.ifrm.com/html/emoticons/laugh.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='laugh.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Agreed, we can keep an eye on the weather nearer the day, but at the same time we're English, do we want to miss the stuff we want to see (the pre-66 minis and Italian Stallions aren't running on the Sunday) just because it's raining a bit?

Edit: Oh, and I've just spotted the Pre-66 minis are running again at 17:40, so we could be later....09:35 instead <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://i2.ifrm.com/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->

JJ, how long roughly do you think it'll take to get to Silverstone from your house?

I've checked out the weather for the weekend and it looks alright on Saturday, a bit cloudy but temperature-wise should be fine:

So, what sort of plans are you guys thinking of??
