Uh Oh!

I remember the day I got my server set up, by way of throwing a massive (at the time) hard disk into an ancient, creaky old Dell (Pentium MMX @ 166MHz with 32Mb RAM - feel the power! <!--emo&:ninja:--><img src='http://i2.ifrm.com/4013/140/emo/ninja.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='ninja.gif' /><!--endemo--> ) and bunging a hooky copy of NT4 server on it.

'80 gig? Just for data? Nah, I'll never fill that. Not in a million years!' I thought.

Wanna bet? <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://i2.ifrm.com/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif' /><!--endemo-->

I got my first 'Out of disk space' error tonight. I've just gone through and deleted a load of stuff I don't need, which has given me about 4 gig free. The way I'm downloading at the moment, that's not going to last!

Just goes to show, there's no such thing as too much disk space!

I wonder if I can get away with just throwing a bigger disk in the old server, or if it'll just crap itself? I'm still amazed that it wanted anything to do with the existing one! <!--emo&:blink:--><img src='http://i2.ifrm.com/html/emoticons/blink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='blink.gif' /><!--endemo-->

My last download was Cities of Gold, which was over 8GB <!--emo&:lol:--><img src='http://i2.ifrm.com/html/emoticons/laugh.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='laugh.gif' /><!--endemo-->

My version (which I'm halfway through downloading) is just 7.8GB. <!--emo&:P--><img src='http://i2.ifrm.com/html/emoticons/tongue.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tongue.gif' /><!--endemo-->

I do seem to be downloading a lot more these days - I remember in late summer I still had over 50GB left - that's over 45GB of dodgy pr0n, torrents and mp3s in about 4 months! <!--emo&:lol:--><img src='http://i2.ifrm.com/html/emoticons/laugh.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='laugh.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Still, even at that rate, a 500GB drive should last well over two years - and at around ?70, that's seriously good value. I remember paying twice that for a 20GB one not so long ago! <!--emo&:o--><img src='http://i2.ifrm.com/html/emoticons/ohmy.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='ohmy.gif' /><!--endemo-->
