I has a 6600GT to put in my PCI-e slot.



It should be quite a bit faster than my on-board graphics <!--emo&:lol:--><img src='http://i2.ifrm.com/html/emoticons/laugh.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='laugh.gif' /><!--endemo-->



If I can make it work - Adam99 gave it to me because it's broken and he just upgraded to a 8800GT <!--emo&<_<--><img src='http://i2.ifrm.com/html/emoticons/dry.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='dry.gif' /><!--endemo-->



I may be asking advise on switching off broken pipe-lines etc <!--emo&:unsure:--><img src='http://i2.ifrm.com/html/emoticons/unsure.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='unsure.gif' /><!--endemo-->



Problem is I'm away all next week, can't risk breaking my machine now so I shan't have time to play with it for ages!

I was quite surprised when I started playing some games. I can play Half Life 2 at 1600x1200 with everything on max, FEAR at 1024x768 with everything on max, Crysis at 800x600 at medium..

I've actually decided not to put the 6600GT in, because:



1. I don't need to. I can play Q3A at 1280x1024 with the on-board gfx just fine

2. It would make the box even noisier

3. It would cost about ?200 a year in electric!



I'll upgrade if I get hooked on a game that needs it. Gonna install Hexen II soon, but I think that should be fine too - it's even older than Quake <!--emo&:lol:--><img src='http://i2.ifrm.com/html/emoticons/laugh.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='laugh.gif' /><!--endemo-->
