The hole in my gum ! Actually there is a bit of tooth sticking up in the middle, so it kind like a pile of sand leaning against a wall in Australia... if that makes sense?!

It's an upper-tooth, so the pile of sand is up-side-down

lol... I suspected I probably wasn't!

I think I may have so many problems because I put it off for so long... so you should probably go more often than I did!

I did about 15 years without going ever... I think these two teeth may just be the first of several - ALL of my front teeth have started aching now

Could be worse....at least we don't live in medieval times!

Medieval dentistry:

1. Remove rotten tooth with pliers/hammer and nail

2. Er...that's about it, really!

Not so good if you don't like pain...or if you actually like having all your teeth!

Oh, and the guy that did your teeth back then was usually also your barber...

Well... fillings nearly fallen out, but luckily I see him tomorrow for a permanent one.

I hope it really is permanent, I don't wanna go back over and over again!

The other tooth hurts now - and I think I've found the hole. It has a horizontal crack near the gum-line. I have no idea how he will fix that, bet it turns out to be stupidly complicated and mega-expensive again!

Not to put you off, though, but when I was younger I broke one of my front teeth - chipped the corner off of it. I had that tooth capped 7 times in the space of a year - the thing kept breaking off again.

I learnt to live with it (the nerves had long since died by this time), and I now have the advantage of being able to use a straw without opening my jaw <img src='http://i6.ifrm.com/html/emoticons/cool.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='cool.gif' />

(In 19 years I have failed to come up with a single use for this 'talent'. But I'm working on it!)

Hmm... a few of my front teeth are quite badly chipped, one of them since a few days after I grew it! Some kid hit me in the mouth; I told the teacher like you're supposed to - and got detention for "Telling Tales" ... I hated that school

Well... I had the root-filling, and a scale&polish but it took 2 hours so he's gonna do the other filling next year when I go back to get the crown fitted.

?140 !!!

That's on top of whatever I've already spent! I've stopped keeping tally any more, it's too scary!

Still... my teeth look better for the polishing; that was all I really wanted!

I just looked up the costs btw... you know NHS treatment is 80% of the cost of private?! I guess today would have cost about ?175... Hmmm... worth saving, but not the kind of discaount you'd expect?? Well... now it is I guess.

Yay. Last dentist trip for 6 months!!

Had the crown - it don't look too bad, although I think its a little bit wonky. Still, you can't see it unless you look really close and it does the job so I'm happy with it <img src='http://i6.ifrm.com/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' />

Also had a filling in the matching tooth on the other side... didn't hurt, but man it looks weird!!! I dunno what he used to fill it, but it looks like Silver or something

I'm guessing it was Amalgam and it goes darker with age??? I should have asked for a white one I guess... but he didn't ask, and I didn't think to ask!! Ah well... the way my dating isn't going, I don't think I'm gonna be showing it to anyone soon!!

I've just been to the hygeinest and my gums are sore. Every time they poked my gums they bled. What a surprise! That was just an assessment.

I now have to go back 4 times over 6 weeks for root-planing. This involves a local injection and plenty of scraping. Ouch. I'm not looking forward to that.
