on this most chilli of eve's and i shall regail you a tail of times past. time of worry, strife and pixies.
Twas a night not too unlike tonight that i once tryed to battle the Smorgefeoo beast of Draxthor. i was hunting the beast with my compon Fred of Thrax. We had been orded to slay the Smorgefeoo creature for the safty of the town of Fallius. The town had payed us 10 bags of RAM to slay the best to rid them of fear.
We had set out many days before. We had stopped at ye old' Inn to stop for a cup of meed. the foul wench at the inn glared before taking our order. then shuffled away to the darkness. we drank and regailed of times past before day when we would set off to the final place of the Smorgefeoo beast. for that day could be our last.
we slept.
the next day, teas a foul foggy day. we set off leaving the inn to be stopped by an old woman. "take heed" she said. "the best will not die by your hands". "Be off with you" i bellowed as we headed off into the fog to the beast.
a full days walk had passed. we arrived at the creatures lair. the foul smell hung thinck in the air. like the smell of a 1000 burnt psu's. we armed ourselfs. Fred using his broad sword and i using my axe. we crept into the beast lair. slowly.....carfuly. and there sleeping the Smorgefeoo, we approched. weapons held aloft for the blow.
a crow flys from the lair. waking the beast.
we swing but the Smorgefeoo is too fast its huge wings flapping giving the wind of a 1000 80mm fans. the best huge talons glistend as it moved to attach. I and Fred prepare for the creatures attach. it move in fast and powerful. the bests eyes wide open showing their red glair. a peirceing glair that would cut lesser men down.
we swing again. i catch a wing with my axe. a cry from Fred. he was caught by the Smorgefeoo talon. twas but a flesh wound. he said he would fight on. around the best moved high in its lair. down again it came. i hold my axe high swing. swish. i had taken its leg clean off. victory was asurred now. But Fred, his injures let forth blood. He knew he was not long for this world. the smell of blood attracted the Smorgefeoo. it mouth with apart for its meal. it flew round. takeing a clar path. it moved towards Fred faster and faster. Fred with his sword held forward. Let out his battle cry. Running towards the Smorgefeoo, his wounds bloody.
towards each other. Fred deteminded not to let such a creature take another life in this word.
With a mighty hit he thrust his sword into the head of the Smorgefeoo beast. but in the act so brave and try was cut deeply by the razor sharp jaws of the Smorgefeoo.
His final words too faint to hear. he dies. his final act of slaying the Smorgefeoo beast was done. he death was not in vain.
with the creature slain and my commrade dead. i left the foul lair. to return to the Fallius to tell the new and to comerate the loss of Fred Of Thrax.
to this day i tell the storie of Fred Of Thrax and the battle with the Smorgefeoo beast. in the hopes that all will know of this tale.
