Just a quick install....

Well I fancied playing with SyncToy so I downloaded it, started the install and got this:

So I clicked and DL'd the 20MB install for .net 2.0 which came up...



It came up and said this:

So I thought... OK, how do I do this... and read:

For best results, install on a computer that has not had pre-release versions of SQL 2005, Visual Studio 2005, or the .NET Framework 2.0 installed on it.



If your computer has any of the pre-release versions on it, they must be removed in the correct order BEFORE you begin installing the release version. This process is not officially supported.



&nbsp; 1. Go to the Control Panel and launch Add/Remove Programs

&nbsp; 2. Remove all SQL Server 2005 products

&nbsp; 3. Either run the uninstall tool, or follow the manual uninstall instructions below

&nbsp; 4. Install the product or products you wish to use

I only wanted to bloody install SyncToy, now I have to uninstall all my .net Beta applications like SQL and Visual Studio Personal editions - that's hundreds of Megs to Download again, and I'm not even sure if they still do them!!!!!

OK so now I've got .net 2.0 installed, Trashed all my old .net applications and...

It needs an OLD version of .net; not compatable with the new one...



Now I need to get the old BETA to run my visual studio again; and I've given up on SyncToy. Gonna use Xcopy like I used to...



Grrrr.
