Stupidly Long Films

I just watched Gangs of New Yoyk. Great film, but it started at 10pm and went on until 1am - that's too damn long!

I was gonna go to bed, when I saw Strange Days was on film 4. Just starting. It's like my favourite film, or one of them. It's right up there - its a seriously cool film.

It finishes at 5am !!!! It's nearly 4 hours long !!!! Now I remember what I was doing on Newyears 1999 - I spent nearly half of it watching the same damn film!!!

Any other contenders for stupidly long films - and were they worth watching?

I thought that The Good Sheppard was too long. It wasn't as long as what you've mentioned, but it was a film that would have been better if it was shorter.

I've tried to watch Dr Zhivago a few times, but due to it being so long I've never got to finish it. i know old films were 3-4 hours long etc, dont mind them, but current films i think 2+ hours is too much, dunno why just cant realy stand much now a days.

At almost 3 hours each nobody has yet mentioned the LOTR films. Is that because they are so good you don't notice the time lapse? I don't think I could have watched the special editions at close to 4 hours in a cinema, but at home when you can pause when you need to take a break they certainly too long for me.

To be honest, I prefered the 30 second theatre versions.
