Scott's Porage Oats
I was in Morrisons recently and when I picked up a 'traditional' box of porage oats, next to it I saw a new product, 'extra thick' porage oats. I wondered what the hell could be different about them so scoured the packets for information.
The ingredients were identical and only after carefully reading everything did I determine the difference between them.
Traditional - Add 310ml milk to 45g oats
Extra Thick - Add 240ml milk to 45g oats
WTF!?!
You have got to be kidding me. Some marketing bod has come up with this idea that results in extra packaging costs when they could have just provided two preparation methods on the same box.

I almost opened the packets to have a look at the contents but couldn't quite bring myself to do it.
I would put money on me being correct though. By saturating the market with brands and variants the companies can increase their hold.
