Jobs

My weirdest and most boring job ever was cutting the heads off nails.
I took a nail from one bucket, put it in a guillotine, shouted *Off with his head!* and put it in another bucket.
They were for guitar capos. The manufacturer (Hello Terry!) had discovered that galvanized nails were cheaper than galvanized wire of the same gauge, and by paying me 1p a nail he could save a few pennies!
This was back in about 1984 and I was making about ?2 an hour, which was more than my Mum at the time! I was quick
Another job for the same outfit involved super-gluing parts together. This was done as outwork for health and safety reasons - ie there wasn't any! That stuff really gets to you after a couple of weeks...
Best job was software development for a company in Buckingham. I was coding in BBC Basic but sadly they went bust about 3 months after I joined, and no it wasn't my fault! The parent company still exists; they're called Vidicode.nl
